All dental work is performed by Jeff Klepinger personally. He uses a holistic approach and his horsemanship skills to communicate with each horse he works with. By using his hands as a speculum the horse is more comfortable and he is able to feel the areas of the mouth which is causing your horse pain or discomfort. He works in a methodical way with each horse starting on the offside of the horse in the lower molar area relieving the horse from pain then giving him or her a moment to realize what he has done. After that, it is neat to watch your horses communicate with Jeff telling him where the pain and discomfort is. You can actually see your horse showing signs of relief by groaning or little grunts and sighs of relief and even rubbing their head on Jeff telling him thank you. A lot of time we will even get a big shiver starting from the head all the way back to the tail- kind of like a dog shaking the water off them. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries.
